What’s therapy with me like? I focus on anxiety disorders, mood disorders,  and adjustment disorders, using client centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and expressive arts work.

What I like about client centered therapy is that I feel like it gives the client a sense of control and gives them a role to play in their own healing. With CBT I believe that our thoughts have an impact on our behavior and feelings. I sometimes think we can get trapped in the thoughts which can lead us to repeating some behaviors that we want to change. Finally, with expressive arts, I find that it is a way for us to unlock feelings we did not know we had or for us to give life to something we did not have the language for.

How I’ve kept learning… I have kept myself learning by taking continuing education trainings.

Who do I work with? I enjoy working with children/adolescents and teens as well as young adults. I enjoy doing individual therapy.

My impacting identities are… I am Black and I am a woman and I live at the intersection of both of those identities. I also identify as cis heterosexual woman and I recognize the privilege that comes along with that. As a clinician I strive to use my experience that comes along with being marginalized to work from a place of empathy and understanding when working with other marginalized groups, as well as using the privilege that I do have to advocate for those who may not have the ability to advocate for themselves.

I feel allied/aware/part of/informed/knowledgeable about…African American/Black Community (part of), LGBTQIA (allied), and Indigenous People (allied).

I am the best fit for a client who… is ready to begin their journey of discovery, growth, and healing; clients who want a therapist who will provide a safe space to figure out what healing looks like for them. Clients who want to bring more creativity and fun into their therapy.

I am not a good fit for clients who… is not ready to begin a journey of self-exploration and healing.

What makes me unique? The thing that makes me unique from other therapists is my sense of creativity. I am willing to use media, pop culture and art to make therapy and the concepts of therapy more accessible.
