What’s therapy with me like? I focus on ADHD and neurodivergence, grief, non-traditional lifestyles and kink-identity, LGBTQIA+, poly/LGBTQIA couples and polycules, codependency and attachment, and life transitions utilizing an integrative, holistic, and mindfulness-based perspective. I enjoy using a DBT/ACT framework as well as incorporating many other creative and evidence-based modalities based on each client and their unique needs. Most of my work comes from a feminist, humanistic outlook and has roots in relational cultural theory. I acknowledge that every human is different, and not every modality may work for them and their lived experience. I aim to work with my clients collaboratively to create a treatment plan that best serves their lives and their identities.
DBT and ACT both come from a mindfulness-based third wave perspective. I appreciate the natural incorporations of unconditional positive regard, authenticity, and self-respect. DBT feels comprehensive and is a successful evidence based practice that allows for learning emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness and overall relationship building. ACT comes from an acceptance and mindfulness perspective. This modality addresses and works to have an open and flexible attitude towards challenges instead of trying to suppress or eliminate them. These modalities together emphasize autonomy while displaying compassion for complex human experiences. I have found that using these modalities with clients have helped them to dive deeper into their own personal experiences, be more assertive, communicate their needs clearly and set boundaries to protect their overall well-being!
I believe we are constantly evolving and I believe in helping my clients achieve personal growth through authenticity, accountability, self-respect, and compassion. I hope to help my clients feel empowered and find their voice! I understand that certain modalities may not resonate with everyone, so I am always open to discussing other paths towards wellness and overall goals.
How I’ve kept learning…I value my continuous learning experiences through being a member of the Affirmative Couch, teaching yoga, and volunteering my time as a mental health liaison for an electronic dance music nonprofit and music label that dedicates their efforts to sexual assault prevention and harm reduction in the nightlife scene. I outsource and teach workshops on consent, safe night out practices, conflict de-escalation, and diversity inclusion. I aim to learn from my students in my yoga classes, my peers, and from those in my greater community. I enjoy reading books on social justice, liberatory frameworks, and lived experience. I also continue my learning through staying up to date on research in the field and literature/books from professionals in the field!
I just finished my RYT200 yoga teacher training and I am a member of the American Counseling Association as well as the Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors of Maryland.
In May of 2022 I began a two-year long journey working towards a post-graduate certificate in Sex Therapy through Widener University. I plan to utilize this training to expand on my existing knowledge and work within the areas of sex positivity and sexuality.
Who do I work with? I work with teens over age 13, young adults, adults & middle age individuals; teen groups or non-traditional lifestyle groups, kids over 10; and couples and polycules.
My impacting identities are… I am a part of the queer community, practice polyintimacy, have personal experience as a neurodivergent human and I consider myself a Highly Sensitive Person. I was adopted at birth and have experience with attachment struggles. I also have previous personal lived experience within the occupation of sex work.
I feel allied/aware/part of/informed/knowledgeable about… Sex Workers (allied, knowledgeable of, previously part of), LGBTQIA+ (allied, part of), non-traditional lifestyles (knowledgeable of, practicing), BDSM (knowledgeable), BIPOC (allied, knowledgeable, always looking to continue learning how to be a better ally).
I am the best fit for a client who… is willing to challenge themselves to embrace the unknown, and work to unlearn and relearn in order to release what no longer serves them. I would work well with a client who enjoys humor, art, movement, and is open to incorporating non-traditional methods of treatment such as nature therapy, somatic body movement, yoga, or art therapy. I am a great fit for clients who are looking to explore their sexual or gender identities, as well as clients who are curious about what non-traditional lifestyles have to offer!
I am not a good fit for a client who… is not willing to do some “homework” or self-exploring activities outside of session. I may not be a great fit for a client who is just interested in traditional talk therapy or rigidly structured therapy, and I am not a good fit for a client who has prejudice views against the queer community, sex workers, or BIPOC.
What makes me unique? I am a creative at heart, and I love to move and groove! I may incorporate unique movement and art based ways of moving through struggles in order for my clients to better understand themselves and the world around them. I integrate many different forms of theory to personalize the therapeutic experience for each person based on their needs. I am also a dancer, a flow artist, and an Aquarius!
The Practical Stuff
What insurances do I accept? I am in network with Evernorth (previously known as Cigna). I am accepting BCBS clients on a case-by-case basis but generally am scheduling about a month out for intakes. I do not accept insurance for couples/relationship therapy. Please see our Rates and Insurance page for more information.
Do I offer telehealth or in person sessions? Both! I prefer in person but am open to both!
