Courtney McCubbin

Pacifica Graduate Institute/MA in Counseling Psychology with an Emphasis in Depth Psychology

Not taking new clients for sessions, but spots are available in groups!

What’s therapy with me like? I focus most on self-esteem, relationship issues, and grief, using Psychodynamic, Modern Analytic, and Depth Psychotherapy modalities.

Psychodynamic depth oriented therapies allow clients to uncover and understand unconscious processes, which affect present behavior. Raising self-awareness and understanding the influence of the past on the present can motivate and empower us to grow and change for the better.

How do you keep learning? I have attended the American Group Psychotherapy Association; Somatic Experiencing Training: Beginning I, Level I and the Marin Institute for Projective Dreamwork Certification.

Who do I work with? I work with all ages, as well as couples, and groups.

My impacting identities are…I am a cis-gender, heterosexual, white woman who acknowledges my privilege and works to create a safe space for all.

I feel allied/aware/part of/informed/knowledgeable about…Feminist oriented therapy (practicing), multi-culturally competent counseling (practicing), and the LQBTQ+ population (allied).

I am the best fit for a client who…is interested in deep, insight oriented therapy.

I am not the best fit for a client who…is not interested in deep explorations of the psyche.

What makes me unique? My therapeutic style involves creating a safe space to explore one’s deepest self.

The Practical Stuff

What insurances do I accept? I am in network with Carefirst BCBS.

Do I offer telehealth or in person sessions? During COVID, I am offering teletherapy, but I prefer in person sessions.

The Fun Stuff

Any pets? I have two Bengal cross-breeds, Daniel and Lynx, and Rowen, an English Setter.
